    Das Todesdatum der Maria (der Jüngeren) von Bizye (BHG 1164): † 16. Februar 902.Thomas Pratsch - 2004 - Byzantinische Zeitschrift 97 (2):567-569.

The need for empathetic healthcare systems.Angeliki Kerasidou, Kristine Bærøe, Zackary Berger & Amy E. Caruso Brown - 2021 - Journal of Medical Ethics 47 (12):e27-e27.
Medicine is not merely a job that requires technical expertise, but a profession concerned with making the best decisions and recommendations with reference to, and in consultation with, the patient. This means that the skill set required for healthcare professionals in order to provide good care is a combination of scientific knowledge, technical aptitude, and affective qualities or virtues such as compassion and empathy.

Pursuing impact in research: towards an ethical approach.Inger Lise Teig, Michael Dunn, Angeliki Kerasidou & Kristine Bærøe - 2022 - BMC Medical Ethics 23 (1):1-9.
BackgroundResearch proactively and deliberately aims to bring about specific changes to how societies function and individual lives fare. However, in the ever-expanding field of ethical regulations and guidance for researchers, one ethical consideration seems to have passed under the radar: How should researchers act when pursuing actual, societal changes based on their academic work?Main textWhen researchers engage in the process of bringing about societal impact to tackle local or global challenges important concerns arise: cultural, social and political values and institutions (...)

Something to do with Demeter: Ritual and performance in Aristophanes' women at the thesmophoria.Angeliki Tzanetou - 2002 - American Journal of Philology 123 (3):329-367.
In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:Something to do with Demeter:Ritual and Performance in Aristophanes' Women at the ThesmophoriaAngeliki TzanetouLike his character the Kinsman, Aristophanes invades Athenian women's religious space. He puts onstage for the whole city a religious festival restricted to women. He suggests that women use this occasion to drink and plot against men, and he portrays them as carrying on adulterous affairs and duping their husbands. As a result of this negative (...)

Empathy and Efficiency in Healthcare at Times of Austerity.Angeliki Kerasidou - 2019 - Health Care Analysis 27 (3):171-184.
Efficiency is an important value for all publicly funded healthcare systems. Limited resources need to be used prudently and wisely in order to ensure best possible outcomes and waste avoidance. Since 2010, the drive for efficiency, in the UK, has acquired a new impetus, as the country embarked on an ‘age of austerity’ purportedly to balance its books and reduce national deficit. Although the NHS did not suffer any direct budget cuts, the austerity policies imposed on the welfare system, including (...)

The recent book of Angeliki DELIKARI (D.) devoted to the life and the religious activity of St. Gregory the Sinaite is a fine example of a profound knowledge of the problems that such kind of study always implies. It is also a good illustration of what a perfect command of both mediaeval Greek and Slavonic can render as a scholarly result. One should acknowledge that, except for the works of A.-E. TACHIAOS, D. GONIS and K. PAVLIKIANOV, such Greek-Slavic philological (...)

Rescher has presented a proof that a completed science is logically impossible; not every truth can be known. I show that the proof is valid only if it is read de re. One of its premises, however, is an obvious truth only on a de dicto reading; read de re it is false. What the proof shows, therefore, is that science has no limits and any true proposition can be known. We can, however, know it only in the meagre de (...)

  26. On the alleged necessity of true identity statements.E. J. Lowe - 1982 - Mind 91 (364):579-584.
A highly contentious issue in recent philosophy of logic has been the question of whether there can be contingently true identity statements. In this paper I want to investigate a possible loop-hole in the standard argument of the necessitarians (i.e., those who maintain that any true identity statement is necessarily true).

Graphemic Variation in Morphosyntactic Context: The Syllable u in Classic Maya Hieroglyphic Writing.Mallory E. Matsumoto - forthcoming - Topics in Cognitive Science.
Throughout the long history of Classic Maya hieroglyphs, a logosyllabic writing system used from the late first millennium BCE through the mid-second millennium CE in southern Mesoamerica, the most commonly recorded phonetic value was the syllable u (/ʔu/). With over a dozen different u hieroglyphs, Classic Maya scribes had more options for recording /ʔu/ than any other syllable or logograph. Cognitive approaches to writing systems typically attribute graphemic variation (i.e., alternation between signs with equivalent linguistic value) to semantic differences like (...)
